In July 2009, Celine Gualde and her husband decided to leave Paris and bought 89 acres in one block at La Diere, Sainte-Gauburge-Sainte-Colombe in the Orne region. A property next to the famous Haras de la Louviere, owned by Lady O'Reilly.
In addition to her busy daily schedule, Celine Gualde decided to study and is an agricultural graduate (equine option) which helped her creating her own stud in Normandy. Old dairy farm, the 89 acres of the SCEA Cap Orne turned into a functional place and welcomed its first residents at the end of 2009.
The famous fields of Le Merlerault (well known for their rich pastures) underwent a total makeover: creation of new paddocks, wood fencing, automatic anti-freeze waterthroughs, sand fields' sheds. Everything was built according to Celine Gualde's instructions and precious advices from Pierre Julienne, mentor at the Haras des Cruchettes.
Two buildings gather large boxes of 270 sq ft, and individual stables of 377sq ft or 430sq ft. The hay racks have been innovated especially for the farm: a round bale is placed on the ground, between two stables, and mares can reach it at any time; the hay does not mix with the bedding... Everything was studied and planned for the horses well-fare but also to be very practical and functional.
Celine Gualde boards mares during the season and looks after racehorses on a break or following an injury and adjust their days according to their individual needs. For example, a 107sq ft paddock was built, and small foals paddocks.
The SCEA Cap Orne boards Thoroughbreds, Trotting horses and AQPS and is also Cassiopee and her daughter's paradise ! Celine fell in love with this boulonnais mare (an endangered heavy breed) and bought the huge mare of 17.3 hh to save her from the factory. She gave her all the TLC she needed and in 2010, the grey gave her a beautiful filly named " A La Tienne" ("Cheers"), following the great celebrations of her birth !
Celine Gualde bred Merci Pierji in partnership with Pierre Julienne, and owns her. The daughter of Kotky Bleu ran 4 times in 2010, 2 wins and 2 places, in Enghien then Auteuil.
