Ex dairy farmer with 50 montbéliarde bred cattle on the hills over Cluny, mecca of the AQPS in Saone-et-Loire, Daniel Jandard was afraid of horses. Traumatised at the age of 13 following the death of one of his school mate killed by a percheron, he only discovered his enthusisam for horses when he retired and built his house, and took a mare in his "garden" to help his neighbour. The broodmare was Domitia, dam of Milou des Enceints, a Listed winner... Having found the mare pretty, he decided to buy one for himself... a heavy bred filly but one of his friends told him he should get a racehorse instead. Daniel Jandard then purchased the mare Api from Simon Philibert, in foal to Roi de Rome. She was carrying the future Narcisse de Touzaine, dual winner of the Prix Marcel Callier in Lyon, despite a fracture where she needed two screws. Worried that the mare would get bored on her own, Daniel Jandard gets Isis du Mesnil, and straight away after, a filly by Garde Royale named Diana de Vonnas. The latter will produce the good Olympe de Touzaine, who went to Ireland first and then came back to Guillaume Macaire.
Using the suffix, "de Touzaine" name of his old farm, Daniel Jandard met few professionals like Stéphane Eveno and Pascale Ménard thanks to Simon Philibert, a breeder in Ain. Afterwards, he bought Domitia back, dam of Milou des Enceints, the first horse he had in his "garden", but barren for few years. She went in foal to Video Rock. Lucky man.
Now based on 85 acres divided in two plots next to Cluny's woods, a brand new barn with 6 stables including two foaling boxes and stocks, Danial Jandard owns 8 mares, 1 thoroughbred and 7 AQPS. He works with the Papot family and Stéphane Eveno, his first trainer ever, and has his own racing silks.
