Paul Couderc is treasurer of the national syndicate of Anglo-Arab racing and his passion for horses was passed on from his family.
Historically the Cantal department was a major breeding centre for the army and with this in mind, Paul's grandfather Pierre began breeding, followed by his son, also Pierre, who concentrated on Anglo-Arabs, sport and racehorses.
After studies which led him to co-direct a medical analysis laboratory near Aurillac, Paul Couderc took on the family breeding operation in conjunction with his brother Philippe who takes care of the horses on a daily basis.
The Couderc's 70 hectare farm, the Domaine de Lagarde, is situated at Reilhac, 8km from Aurillac.
Paul Couderc is an owner/breeder who races his produce in his own colours. He also occasionally buys in horses, notably the 25% Anglo-Arab Reine Lauteix who won Toulouse's Criterium des Pouliches in 2008.
