A versatile breeding enterprise, champion AQPS on the flat in 2008. The constantly-developping "des Mottes" signature is present on both sides of the Channel. Breeders of Sun des Mottes and Trifolium.
Created from a base mare named Vertavienne nearly 40 years ago, Claudie and Joël Poirier's breeding operation advertises the qualities of the "des Mottes" suffix which is now carried by all their produce. The Poiriers are above all breeders and work with loyal trainers such as Elie Lellouche, Cyriaque Diard or Joël Boisnard. They occasionally purchase from the public market, for example Ursis and Oktodez, and sell foals and promising youngsters.
Breeding thoroughbreds and half-breds for flat and jumps, the Poiriers enjoyed a great season in 2008 when heading the flat standings for AQPS thanks to the "classic" victories of Ronaldo, Royce, Puszta and Qeever des Mottes.
They keep a varied broodmare band of 22 individuals, boosted every year with the purchase of new bloodlines.
They are based in the Anjou region on land shared between the banks of the Loir which flood each year in the summer and in the winter, higher, more sandy ground.
Horses at rest can take advantage of vast pastures covering 400 hectares where they can roam at liberty for 2 months.
