Born on a 1235 acres farm at St Gratien Savigny, a village of which her father has been mayor for over 25 years, Karine Colson-Perreau first discovered horses through eventing. In fact she bred a top class eventer, Olivier de Beaumont, winner of the International event of Pompadour and crowned French champion in 2009.
In 1998, Karine decides to develop a studfarm particularly oriented on AQPS and buys her 1st broodmare GIVRY, who will become dam of MALKO DE BEAUMONT(exported to UK - 8 wins) and NEGUS DE BEAUMONT(exported to UK - 5 wins). Then, in partnership with Nicolas de Lageneste (Haras de Saint-Voir), she gets JOIE DE LA VIE who will produce 3 winners: "Par Bonheur", "Quel Beau Mec" (8 wins) and "Sous les Cieux" (1 win, in training with Willie Mullins - Ire). Her collaboration with Nicolas de Lageneste is precious and his advices very useful.
Karine Colson-perreau recruits few more mares over the years from famous studs like Armaille, Cypres, de Lageneste, Berger (sister to Kario de Sormain) and Poirier (sister to Jazz des Mottes).
She buys Quinine de Mazille as a foal as a broodmare prospect: she will win the Prix Glorieuse at Maisons-Laffitte and will finish 2nd and 3rd of the Prix Chloris in Saint-Cloud trained by Anne-Marie Poirier (married to Yann, Haras du Chêne). All her horses get broken and pre trained with Mr Poirier. Quinine is in foal to Dom Alco in 2011.
In 2010, Karine orientates her breeding towards thoroughbreds. She buys Lot 474 in Deauville in December. Melanzane is by Arazi out of Sierra Roberta, 2nd in the Prix Vermeille. She in foal to Turtle Bowl and will go to Air Chief Marshal in 2011.
