Internationally recognised in the world of Charolais cattle breeding, Décize-based Raymond has mad his name in the jumping world in recent years.
He bought his first in-foal mare at Deauville in 1983 for 17,000 francs and this Follow Star (Carmarthen), whose sister was later to produce the champion Or Jack, produced three winners including the good Matastar (Matahawk). Follow Star's daughter by Noir et Or, Miss Villecour went on to produce Mister Pasquini (Dom Pasquini), winner of an important contest at Auteuil.
In 1987, Jean-Christian Raymond met Jacques Ortet and owner Bernard Barthe. After taking advice from another Charolais breeder Maurice Rohaut and his son François, he acquired two brrodmare sisters from Barthe, Junta (Cariellor) and Fautine (Fast Topaze). Junta gave birth to 6 winners including Gr 3 Prix Juigné winner Juntico. She had a Robin des Champs filly in 2008 and a filly by Turgeon the previous year.
Fautine has also proved successful in the breeding shed, with 8-time winning mare Latran and Free World, Graded-placed in England.
Jean-Christian Raymond has kept two unraced daughters of Fautine as broodmares, Fautine World (Lost World) and Flèche Bleue (Epervier Bleu).
