Bruno Vagne is a former IT technicien from Clermont-Ferrand who completely changed his career direction ten years ago, to become a farmer and more precisely a breeder. Like most people in this central region, he raises both cows and horses.

Bruno Vagne is based on the hills of Souvigny, close to Moulins at the heart of the Allier region. His vast 420 acres farm is home to 80 breeding cows and 10 AQPS mares.

Even though he came from a technical professional background, Bruno Vagne was already familiar with the countryside as his father André Vagne was a well-known breeder (notably of the brothers Imposant and Galapagos). The Vagne family has been raising horses for four generations and Bruno himself is based on his parents-in-law's Ferme des Geulets.

His broodmare band descends from three different AQPS families. The most ancient of these descends from Dalila (Decetia, Hamiltone, Ismaelle II, Orvallée, Puligny Montrachet, Conquistador II, Eudipe, Goeland, Cand'Or, Etoile d'Or, Mikador, Or des Champs, Galapagos, Hesmeralda, Imposant, Mifasol, Nacimo, etc...).

Bruno Vagne then invested in an Anglo-Arab line, which notably produced British Listed winner Oedipe, from Mr Parreau-Delhote.

His third family comes from one of the first ever AQPS lines in France, stretching back to Radio Paris (1927). This pedigree has produced dozens of great jumpers; as an example it is only necessary to mention First Gold.

Bruno Vagne sells all his male produce as foals, as well as some fillies. He keeps some to lease their racing careers and bring back to stud later. He works regularly with Philippe Peltier.

In 2008 Bruno Vagne was successful with Mikador, a top-class winner at Auteuil, and Rapide, who won a good 3yo AQPS contest at Lignières.

He boards horses all year long and also for foaling. The Vagne family also has rooms to rent in their rural gite which is ideal for lovers of peace and quiet and also of this historical region.
